New Salary Update!
The league has spoken and I have finally caved. Thanks to Greg, and many others I spent most of the night coming up with a new system and it may not be perfect, but I feel it’s way more efficient then the old. Starting in 2026 we will be inducting a new salary system for years to come that will do 3 things. The stats and formula’s being used won’t change, what will change is how everyone will get their salary for the year.
First, and most importantly it will completely end tanking. Sorry Jonkmans and Detmars… I created this league to have each team have a shot to win it all, and the previous salary system has hurt that for years and years. Many different things will be introduced into this new system that will make sure everyone has a fair shot and will make for better games throughout the year.
Second, it will promote OG’s to return. The new system will now allow anyone who has a year's experience to be drafted. This open’s the draft pool to over 100+ for owners and will allow them to push for a return for old timers to come back and give it another shot.
Third, it will promote owners to fill a roster with players that will come no matter the skill level or experience. Throughout the years many times we have seen experienced players go undrafted or dropped and have seen them “struggle” in four games to have a low salary and be picked up and immediately boost a team to the top. This will come to an end, any player that has had a year experience will have a set salary for the whole year. The only players whose salary will fluctuate are new players who have yet to play a full season.
This new system is bold, and many will hate it, but I think this is crucial for the league’s growth and necessary for the league if it is really focused on creating an atmosphere for any skill level. Leroy is intended to create friendships, to have fun, and to be competitive for all. This was and always will be the goal for Leroy as long as it goes on. So how does it work. For those interested in confusing formulas and numbers, keep reading. It's complicated and i love it.
After each season is complete I take the total number of at bats for the league and total number of innings pitched and have formulas that average them out to create the Ironman Award. With the average being 30.00 for everything, everyone with 30.00 or over in just regular season games gets a year of experience. To gain a year of experience for the salaries I will take the whole year at bats (including playoffs) and innings pitched and do the same thing and those over 30.00 for the whole year will get a “Salary Year”.
If a player doesn’t get over 30.00 in a year, the salary for that year will not be included. Next i will take the average salary based on the following.
1 Year of Salary Year -> 1 Year
2-3 Years of Salary Years -> Last 2 Salary Years.
4-6 Years of Salary Years -> Last 3 Salary Years
7-10 Years of Salary Years -> Last 4 Salary Years
11-15 Years of Salary Years -> Last 5 Salary Years.
16-21 Years of Salary Years -> Last 6 Salary Years
And so on.
This means if you had say 5 years where you got a “Salary Year” Your salary will be the average of the last 3 years you got a “Salary Year”
Once we have all the average salaries based on the above I will take the sum of those and then run some formulas to redistribute salary to keep the salary at an average of 30.00.
Couple Notes on this. Salaries for players that played in 2025 and played 4 games but didn’t qualify for a salary year will still be included in the formula for the draft. Although if they don’t get drafted or get dropped, their salary will go back down to zero and will have a new salary after they play four games. This is also for new players who have no games played in their career, they will still get a salary after the four games and will fluctuate each week based on stats for that year, same as players who don’t have a “Salary Year”.
With this new system once you have a “Salary Year” you will have a salary for the whole year no matter what happens. Although, moving forward anybody not on a roster will be zero dollars for the team they play for. This includes everyone, for an example i will use the OG Founder Kyle Reynhout. He will have a salary for this year, he will be able to be drafted and will be able to be signed throughout the year based on that salary it won’t change. If he subs for a team during the season though his salary will be zero for those games played. This also effects present players who say don’t get drafted. Let’s just say Jared didn’t own this year and didn’t get drafted. He has a salary to be signed set already, but will be zero dollars as a sub. With this being said all players with a “Salary Year” will be put into the wheel to be a sub. All players without a “Salary year” who are a free agent can be put into a lineup by an owner who claims them first. This will still allow new players who want to play with someone to get acquainted to do that. Although after those players play four games they will also be put in the Sub wheel, but will still have a zero dollar salary.
I am sure this is alot to take in. As an owner I think it will make things easier, to my 3rd point above, owners will no longer wait to see if someone's salary will drop after games played because the salary will be set for the whole season. The only players whose salary will fluctuate are new players and players who don’t have a “Salary Year” to their name. I think this both promotes new players and gives owners more opportunities and freedom. It also promotes owner’s to make decisions and sign lower talented players like myself knowing teams won’t be able to create super teams anymore. Everyone will have a roster that is even week in and out. Owner’s will have to choose if they want 2 superstars and 2 lower ends, or try to run a 30.00 player average.
With that being said we are still looking for 2 more owner’s, it is a great time and the only requirement is to be on Facebook messenger and set your lineup each Tuesday. The board had a meeting last night and there are a few new rules being implemented as well that will come out in the new rule book. Some of these rules will be voted on by the owners once we have the full 16 so stay tuned for that, and if you want a say be an owner!!! For the draft we will have google sheet that will have everything you need that i will be working on today and tomorrow. It will have 4 sections.
1 -> Players drafted.
2 -> Salaries for players who played last year that have a “Salary Year’ and a not changeable salary with last year’s stats
3 -> Salaries for players who played 4 games last year but didn’t get a “Salary Year. It will be a Salary to be drafted, but if not signed or dropped will change with stats. 4 -> Salaries for players who have a salary year that didn’t play last year with there last year played and stats.
