Kermit's 2019 Player Rankings Part 1

Welcome to the Annual Player Ranking Show!

Leroy is unique with its own rankings system that uses different criteria. Last year we started the Hall of Fame bracket with Caleb Jonkman being the first player inducted into the hall of Fame. We will induct another player this year yet again. The top 64 players will duke it out in a single elimination bracket that is voted on by the player. First round voting will start this Friday with the match-ups being released in the next few days.

Before we jump into the 64 Player bracket lets take a look at the staggering 47 players who didn’t make the cut and won't be apart of the fun this year. We will also look back at last year's bracket winner and Hall of Fame Inductee.

#112 (5.50) Colin Peters

2017:NA

2016:NA

2015:NA

2014:NA

General Stats: 2 Games Played (0-2), 5.50 Ranking (112th), 1.94 Qualify (98th), 9.05 Salary (112th), 0.00 Batting (112th), 18.11 Pitching (93rd).

Pitching Stats: 0.684 Average, 33.00 ERA, 2.0 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 3 K’s, 19 At Bats

Awards and Notes: For a second straight season we have a new low. Colin Peters who bragged about playing high school baseball and was annoyed at Greg’s managing is the new low. He is the only player in the history of the league without a single hit.

#111 (5.75) Sam Gromala

2017: #73 (5.89)

2016: NA

2015: NA

Pitching Stats – 0.833 Average, 81.00 ERA, 1 1/3 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 0 k’s, 24 At Bats.

Awards and Notes: Sam doesn’t make a return to the field in 2018 after being signed to numerous teams along the way including being drafted by the Champion Lake County Liners. Rumor has it Caleb is getting her a ring for her efforts.

#110 (6.49) Matt Schaaf

2017: #72 (6.68)

2016: #44 (5.49)

2015: #39 (6.35)

2014: #35 (7.72)

General Stats – 1 Game Played (1-0), 6.49 Ranking (110th), 1.02 Qualify(112th), 11.96 Salary (107th), 6.86 Batting (109th), 17.05 Pitching (99th)

Pitching Stats – 0.625 Average, 24.00 ERA, 1 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 0 k’s, 8 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Matt continues to find random activities to do instead of wiffle ball. He is slowly making his way out of the cellar. First and last played in the last regular season week of the 2014 season.

#109 (6.51) Jake Krischke

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats: 2 Games Played (0-2), 6.51 Ranking (109th), 1.94 (101st), 11.08 Salary (110th), 9.73 (105th), 12.43 (110th)

Pitching Stats: 0.684 Average, 33.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 K’s, 19 At Bats

Awards and Notes: Brett has sounded off on very few, but when he does look out. After the first sweep in Bomber history, Detmar questioned Jake’s ability to understand basic physics. He was left wondering if he knew what a spherical object is and threatened boycotting the league if Jake ever set foot on Leroy grounds. As for the rest of us we hope he makes a return to showcase some improvement.

#108 (6.80) Andy Rasala

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats: 2 Games Played (0-2), 6.80 Ranking (108th), 2.04 Qualify (90th), 11.57 Salary (108th), 6.15 Batting (110th), 16.99 Pitching (101st)

Pitching Stats: 0.571 Average, 21.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 0 K’s, 14 At Bats

Awards and Notes: Rasala is becoming a house hold name in this league and isn’t because of Andy. He has struck out in 75% of his at bats and statistically is the 3rd worst player in the league. A last-minute signing by his brother Marty, Andy played for the Diamond Dusters helping them grab a couple L’s. Marty was quoted saying after the game, “I’ll just take the salary cap penalties and forfeit next time.”

#107 (7.14) Joe Melf

2017: #71 (7.27)

2016: #43 (6.35)

2015: #38 (7.05)

Pitching Stats – 0.571 Average, 24.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 k’s, 14 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Joe was last seen in Leroy in 2014. With 2 cigarettes in his mouth and a pair of jean’s he is one of the few players who have never taken a loss at Leroy. He plays in a band at JJ Kelley’s go check him out!

#106 (7.77) Lauren Ashby

2017: #69 (7.98)

2016: NA

2015: NA

Batting Stats – 0.071 Average, 0.071 Slugging, 0 Homers, 2 RBI’s, 0 Runs, 9 k’s, 28 at bats.

Pitching Stats – 0.727 Average, 40.50 ERA, 4 IP, 0-3 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 k’s, 44 at bats

Awards and Notes: Lauren was the first female player in Leroy History. She produced a hype video for the league last year. She looked to make a return getting drafted to the Clams after attending the bowling event. From the new job of selling Robinhood to the fresh new boy meat we never saw her come out in 2018.

#105 (7.88) Erik Van Laren

2017: #68 (8.14)

2016: NA

Pitching Stats – 0.600 Average, 24.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 k’s, 15 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Erik is the first player in Leroy History from Iowa. He made the 7 hour hike to get a couple games in. Short story Long, it didn’t go well.

#104 (8.26) Stephen Malloy

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats: 2 Games Played (1-1), 8.26 Ranking (104th), 1.85 Qualify (104th), 14.67 Salary (104th), 0.19 Batting (111th), 29.15 Pitching (50th)

Pitching Stats: 0.143 Average, 3.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 1 K, 7 At Bats

Awards and Notes: We talked about it for years, the Jackie Robinson of Leroy. Although for many he was a disappointment his pitching numbers are decent. He sits in the top 50 players for pitching, but is 1 of 2 players to never get a hit in the league.

#103 (8.60) Tyler Walk

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats – 2 Games Played (0-2), 8.60 Ranking (103rd), 1.94 Qualify (100th), 15.26 Salary (103rd), 9.73 Batting (104th), 20.79 Pitching (86th)

Batting Stats: 0.182 Average, 0.182 Slugging, 0 Homer, 0 RBI’s, 1 Run, 5 K’s, 11 At Bats

Pitching Stats: 0.571 Average, 18.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 K’s, 14 At Bats

Awards and Notes: Tyler Walk is a big name on the Indiana Wiffle scene, whose Leroy highlight came in the celebrity game on All Star night cranking a grand slam. I would be surprised to see Tyler go unsigned this year with a low salary and passion for the game.

#102 (8.67) Evan Sylvester

2017: #66 (8.88)

2016: NA

2015: NA

2015: NA

General Stats – 1 Game Played (0-1), 8.67 Ranking (102nd), 1.26 Qualify (110th), 16.07 Salary (101st), 19.22 Batting (91st), 12.92 Pitching (109th)

Pitching Stats – 0.714 Average, 36.00 ERA, 1 1/3 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-1 Saves, 1 k, 14 at bats.

Awards and Notes: We last saw Evan in 2017, a night Jordan started him in the ace slot forcing him into pressure situations early including a blown save.

#101 (9.54) Griffin Smith

2017: #64 (9.83)

2016: NA 2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats – 2 Games Played (0-2), 9.54 Ranking (101st), 1.94 Qualify (97th), 17.13 Salary (98th), 16.84 Batting (95th), 17.42 Pitching (95th)

Batting Stats – 0.273 Average, 0.273 Slugging, 0 Homers, 1 RBI, 2 Runs, 4 K’s, 11 at bats.

Pitching Stats – 0.455 Average, 12.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 0 K’s, 11 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Griffin was the last man to make the Hall of Fame Tournament in 2017, he played Caleb Jonkman in the opening round losing 78-2 (14-1). Which shows 1 person actually thought Griffin should have been in the Hall of Fame over Caleb. He had an arm injury hindering his 2018 season and no word if he looks to make a 2019 return.

#100 (10.15) Brett Shepard

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

Pitching Stats – 0.615 Average, 28.80 ERA, 1 2/3 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 0 K’s, 13 At Bats.

Awards and Notes: The manager of the Granger Panthers one of the most prolific names in ORWBL. He had a 2 game stint playing for the Bushleague Badgers with hopes to recruit players to his Panthers after the injury to Griffin. He hit a decent stick, but struggled from the mound. We hope to see the skipper return to some Leroy ball in 2019 with hopes to break the top 100.

#99 (10.17) Andy Turner

2017: #63 (10.40)

2016: #42 (8.94)

Pitching Stats: 0.611 Average, 21.86 ERA, 4 2/3 IP, 0-3 Record, 0-0 Saves, 7 k’s, 36 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Andy played a few weeks back in 2014, and we haven’t seen him since. Last year he went up against Brett Detmar in the opening round of the Hall of Fame Tournament. The Voting was 76-3 (13-1) in favor of Brett moving on.

#98 (10.18) Stan Sroczynski:

2017: #62 (10.55)

2016: #40 (10.34)

2015: #34 (12.42)

2014: NA

General Stats – 2 Games Played (0-2), 10.18 Ranking (98th), 3.70 Qualify (79th), 16.67 Salary (100th), 8.67 Batting (106th), 24.68 Pitching (74th).

Pitching Stats – 0.250 Average, 4.50 Slugging, 4 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 1 k, 16 at bats.

Awards and Notes – Stan played a few weeks in 2015 and had some decent stuff from the mound. He has been retired for a full year now with it looks like no intention of coming out. He played Kyle Jansma in the first round of the tournament last year, losing 84-3 (22-0).

#97 (10.58) Zach Wisniewski

2017: #61 (10.80)

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats – 4 Games Played (1-3), 10.58 Ranking (97th), 4.47 Qualify (75th), 16.69 Salary (99th), 13.23 Batting (101st), 20.15 Pitching (88th).

Batting Stats – 0.240 Average, 0.240 Slugging, 0 Homers, 1 RBI, 4 Runs, 12 k’s, 25 at bats.

Pitching Stats – 0.548 Average, 15.43 ERA, 4 2/3 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 3 k’s, 31 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Zach was a highlight for Leroy in 2017 when he attended Nationals to help coach the Legends team. He also attended the All Star game and had a great showing in the Home Run Derby in 2017. He was traded between multiple teams in 2018, but never made an appearance. We hope to see the wizard find his way back in to 2019. He went up against Jared Jonkman in the opening round of last year’s Hall of Fame Tournament, losing 70-6 (9-2).

#96 (10.81) Thomas Vander Wal

2017: NA

2016: NA 2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats: 2 Games Played (0-2), 10.81 Ranking (96th), 1.85 Qualify (102nd), 19.78 Salary (92nd), 22.38 Batting (79th), 17.18 Pitching (98th)

Pitching Stats – 0.688 Average, 27.00 ERA, 2 IP, 0-2 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 K’s, 16 At Bats

Awards and Notes: Thomas is known among Leroy more so for his fantasy play rather than wiffle ball play. He currently is in the Championship for the Fantasy Football Leroy League. A big member of the Leroy snapchat and messenger groups he was forced to participate for at least one week to stay apart of the snap chat group. He did and had mild success.

#95 (11.41) Isaiah Devries

2017: #60 (11.67)

2016: #39 (10.43)

2015: #35 (11.42)

2014: #30 (13.70)

Pitching Stats – 0.625 Average, 18.00 ERA, 2 IP, 1-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 k’s, 16 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Isaiah played the first 3 games of the league, we haven’t seen him since. It is interesting to see the growth we had as a league. Going from 30-39th in 2 years, then going from 39th – 95th in the two years following. Isaiah went up against Jon Gibson in the opening round last year losing 71-5 (11-0).

#94 (11.74) Alex Clark

Batting Stats – 0.556 Average, 0.556 Slugging, 0 Homers, 3 RBI’s, 2 Runs, 5 K’s, 18 At Bats.

Pitching Stats – 0.652 Average, 22.50 ERA, 2 2/3 IP, 0-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 3 K’s, 23 At Bats

Awards and Notes: A member of the crazed Hawaiian Super Fans in 2018 he participated in 3 games with some solid at bats from the plate. A fill in for most of the year Alex enjoyed drinking and being on the mic, his polarizing presence had a love hate relationship from other teams in the league.

#93 (12.44) Alex Menn

2017: #59 (12.69)

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

#92 (12.60) Joe Jonkman

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats – 2 Games (1-1), 12.60 Ranking (92nd), 2.04 Qualify (92nd), 23.16 Salary (83rd), 13.56 Batting (100th), 32.76 Pitching (35th).

Batting Stats – 0.250 Average, 0.333 Slugging, 0 Homer, 1 RBI, 1 Run, 5 K’s, 12 At Bats

Pitching Stats – 0.250 Average, 0.00 ERA, 2 IP, 1-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 1 K, 8 At Bats.

Awards and Notes: The oldest player in the history of the league. Joe watched his son get inducted to the hall of fame last year and gave Leroy a shot for himself. In his 2 games played he at one point dove over the fence going for a home run ball leaving fans and players shocked as he slowly got up. He pitched 2 shut out innings and many wonder if we will see him make a special appearance again for the Badgers in 2019.

#91 (12.64) Griffin Govert

2017: NA 2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

Pitching Stats – 0.538 Average, 12.00 ERA, 2 IP, 1-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 2 K’s, 13 At Bats.

Awards and Notes: Griffin appeared in two games in June of this year grabbing a win. Teams showed interest in signing him, but he never responded or came back into the league.

#90 (12.67) Joel Mance

2017: #58 (12.98)

2016: #38 (12.24)

2015: NA

Pitching Stats: 0.444 Average, 9.60 ERA, 5 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 4 k’s, 27 at bats.

#89 (12.67) Chandler Kimmel

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats – 4 Games Played (3-1), 12.67 Ranking (89th), 4.53 Qualify (74th), 20.82 Salary (88th), 14.69 Batting (97th), 26.95 Pitching (61st)

Pitching Stats – 0.348 Average, 7.20 ERA, 5 IP, 1-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 4 K’s, 23 At Bats

Awards and Notes: Chandler watched from the sidelines with a leg injury before finally making his debut. He had some decent stuff from the mound and everyone could see his batting was affected by his injury. With a low salary he looks to be swiped up in the 2019 draft early. Time will tell what a healthy Kimmel can do.

#88 (12.70) Matt Miller

2017: NA

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats – 7 Games Played (2-5), 12.70 Ranking (88th), 5.73 Qualify (69th), 19.67 Salary (93rd), 14.34 Batting (98th), 25.00 Pitching (73rd)

Pitching Stats – 0.438 Average, 10.00 ERA, 6 IP, 0-1 Record, 0-0 Saves, 8 K’s, 32 At Bats

Awards and Notes: Matt was a part of the Sultans of Soy late in the year and made some great progress coming in the league so late. A sure 2019 draft pick if he looks to return.

#87 (13.13) Micah Hescott

2017: #67 (8.69)

2016: NA

2015: NA

2014: NA

General Stats – 10 Games Played (4-6), 13.13 Ranking (87th), 8.91 Qualify (61st), 17.34 Salary (97th), 18.57 Batting (93rd), 16.12 Pitching (104th)

Batting Stats – 0.208 Average, 0.377 Slugging, 3 Homers, 6 RBI’s, 7 Runs, 21 k’s, 53 at bats.

Pitching Stats – 0.629 Average, 26.31 ERA, 8 2/3 IP, 1-0 Record, 0-0 Saves, 9 k’s, 70 at bats.

Awards and Notes: Abercrombie and Fitch almost single handily ruined the chances for the Sultans this past year. He played 6 games this year with his team going 4-2, he barley missed the Hall of Fame bracket last year and missed it again.
